about 7 days ago We are in the process of developing our resources and website, and would love to hear from you to ensure that we're meeting the needs of our community. Can you think of what else you'd like to see on our website? Or perhaps information that you didn't have access to, but that would've made your life easier or better during your journey with salivary gland cancer? When you first got your diagnosis, what were you trying to find out more about? And how about your family, friends, and caregivers—would anything have been beneficial for them too? We'd love to hear from you. Your input is important. Please let us know your suggestions, you can send us a DM, or email [email protected] to contribute your thoughts and experiences. #RareDiseaseCommunity #CharityUK #CancerSupportCommunity #AdenoidCysticCarcinoma #Genomics @SGCancerUK

The government can help you to get or stay in work, whether that's a career or running your own business, if you have a physical or mental health condition or disability via grants or extra support. You can read more about the Access To Work scheme on the UK government website, and we can put you in touch with an organisation that can help you to apply. The Access To Work scheme is extremely helpful for patients of salivary gland cancer, who might need extra financial or administrative support during their treatment and recovery. about 22 days ago Salivary Gland Cancer UK has identified its 8 aims through patient-clinician co-production. Our eighth aim is to support the development of standard drug treatments for salivary gland cancers to improve life expectancy and survivorship by: a. Supporting basic research into the biology of individual salivary gland cancers. b. Supporting translational research that turns this basic knowledge into effective treatments. c. Developing and pushing forward drug trials to test the effectiveness of both existing drugs, and those specifically developed to target a particular salivary gland cancer. #CharityFundraisers #SalivaryGlandCancerUK #RareCancers #ACCWarrior #HeadAndNeckCancerSupport @SGCancerUK

about 26 days ago What does the parotid gland do? The image shows the parotid gland and its relationship with the mouth... The parotid gland produces watery saliva that helps with digestion and mouth lubrication. The gland is located around the side of the jaw, in front of and around the ear as well as in the roof of the mouth. It produces watery saliva that drains into the mouth around the upper cheeks keeping the mouth lubricated for speech and swallowing, as well as helping with food digestion. #SalivaryGland #ParotidGland #RareCancer #GenomicsEngland #LivingWithCancer @SGCancerUK

about a month ago Have you heard about the Flexible Working Bill that is on its way to Royal Assent? And what does this mean for those suffering from chronic illness, disease, or poor health? It means that: - You'll have more opportunity to state your case for flexible working conditions—from day 1 of employment—and your employer has to respond to your request within two months - The process of applying for flexible working conditions is easier than it previously was And... The Flexible Working Bill doesn't just benefit those who are battling ill health, it also supports family and caregivers too. For family and caregivers who may want to spend more time with or take care of those suffering from chronic illness, disease, or poor health—you'll also now have improved chances of being able to state your case, and for your request to be honoured if it doesn't affect your professional role. #ChronicIllness #FlexibleWorking #FlexibleWorkingBill #RareDisease @SGCancerUK
about a month ago Cancer can be really isolating. It's a hard topic to tackle. Not only as the patient, but also for the community trying to support. People often don't know how to act, what to say, or how to assist. And this is exacerbated by the very little information out there on salivary gland cancer. Salivary Gland Cancer UK is actively working towards improving that, with the help of our community and clinicians. We appreciate you for being here on the journey. #RareDiseaseCommunity #CharityUK #CancerSupportCommunity #AdenoidCysticCarcinoma #Genomics @SGCancerUK
